The April 4 sentencing hearing for Seattle Seahawks linebacker Mychal Kendricks has been postponed again. The Eastern District of Pennsylvania cancelled the hearing without setting a date for the future.
Kendricks is facing potential jail time for insider trading, which could cost him most, if not all, of the 2019 NFL season.
The Seahawks recently re-signed the outside linebacker to a contract that is non-guaranteed – preparing for the possibility that he won’t be able to see the field next year.
Seattle also brought back outside linebacker K.J. Wright, and has Austin Calitro, Shaquem Griffin, Barkevious Mingo and Jacob Martin all in the fold – a good sign that they are prepared to go into 2019 without Kendricks if necessary.
Kendricks was originally scheduled to have his hearing in January before it was pushed to April 4. Kendricks’ partner in crime, Damilare Sonoiki, had his hearing pushed back to mid-July – which could be what ultimately ends up happening in Kendricks’ case as well.
For now, the Seahawks will play the waiting game with the star linebacker, hoping of course to have him in the fold for 2019.
If not, however, they appear prepared.
