A man who threatened police with a knife in suburban Newcastle has had his sentencing delayed, after a sentencing assessment report was not ready on Thursday.
Mitchel Randell, 28, asked to be sentenced over last month's incident at Hamilton South without the report - so he could "get it over and done with".
But Magistrate Sharron Crews adjourned the matter to August 4, noting there were fresh, unrelated charges to which he had not yet pleaded.
Randell pleaded guilty in June to brandishing a carving knife while approaching a car containing a senior constable.
The 28-year-old's arrest took place in front of a crowd of people who hurled abuse at police .
Two other men have also been charged for their roles in the broader scene.
