Senior Matt McQuaid gets emotional about Tom Izzo in post-game presser

Following their loss to Texas Tech, Matt McQuaid opened up about his relationship with Tom Izzo. It was a touching moment from a player who will be graduating shortly.

Matt McQuaid forever immortalized himself in Spartan history with his dunk in the Duke Elite 8 matchup. It was a play that will be remembered by all Michigan State basketball fans for years to come, as Michigan State earned one of their biggest wins in recent memory.

Now, Matt McQuaid is moving on after completing his senior season. A year in which he was forced to pick up his production to cover for injured star Joshua Langford. He did that, and more for the Spartans, finishing the year shooting 42% from three, averaging 10 points-per-game, along with his All-Defensive Big Ten team recognition.

A true four-year player, McQuaid entered into his MSU career the 69th ranked player in the country and scratched and clawed his way into becoming one of the top shooting guards in the country. That’s why it was no surprise when McQuaid got emotional following his final game in green-and-white, highlighting his relationship with Tom Izzo as something he’d miss after graduation.
