Senior BT executive charged with murder of wife found dead in Bexley home

A senior BT executive has been charged with his wife's murder.

Suzanne Winnister, 66, was discovered by police at the couple’s £1.6 million London home in Bexley, south-east London, at 9.15pm on Tuesday.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem investigation ruled that she had died of severe neck and head injuries.

Leslie Winnister, 68, was charged with her murder on Friday evening.

The 68-year-old has served as treasurer for telecoms giant BT for 15 years and is currently registered as a director of its property and investment arms.

According to her social media profile, Mrs Winnister was retired having worked for City-based international bank Standard Chartered.

Former neighbours in Dukes Orchard paid tribute to Mrs Winnister following news of her death.

One told the Standard: “She was a lovely woman always looking out for others. The couple were both friendly.”

Another said: “We are in total shock. She was an extremely nice person.”

Winnister will appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
