Leeds United fans no doubt watched on with pride on Sunday as Kalvin Phillips played a starring role in England's 1-0 win over Croatia.
After some had questioned Gareth Southgate's decision to start him, Phillips confirmed what every Leeds fan knew anyway as he produced a fine performance to help nullify Luka Modric in the opposition midfield.
Phillips played a key part in Raheem Sterling's second-half winner as he broke from midfield, beat two players and set up Sterling to score with an impressive pass.
The Yorkshire Pirlo's performance deservedly won plenty of praise, with Southgate crediting the midfielder's work under Marcelo Bielsa for his high confidence.
He told the BBC: "Kalvin Phillips is a player who is so understated. He has had a fantastic start to his international career. I thought he was immense throughout the game - as they all were.
