Former Arsenal star Francis Coquelin has been linked with a move to Al Sadd SC in a transfer that would see him reunite with ex-Gunners teammate Santi Cazorla.
The Spaniard moved to the Qatari club, managed by Xavi, earlier this month and now the team have approached Valencia to prise away another midfielder.
Reports suggest that the Frenchman is keen on the move but Al Sadd have yet to come to an agreement with the Spanish side
Geoffrey Kondogbia, Dani Parejo, Rodrigo Moreno, Goncalo Guedes, Jasper Cillesen, Denis Cheryshev and Kevin Gameiro have all said to be up for sale as Los murcelagos look to salvage their financial situation.
However, a €5 million bid for Coquelin has been deemed not enough by the La Liga club and it is uncertain whether there will another bid.
While some Gunners were very excited by the prospect of Cazorla and Coquelin playing together once again, others simply wanted Mesut Ozil to join them.
Check out the reaction below:
Coquelin and Cazorla of course enjoyed an impressive partnership during their time at Arsenal forming a double-pivot. They had even impressed Ozil who played ahead of them.
Ozil said in 2015: “Santi is a very technically-gifted player, just as Francis is. We call Francis 'the pitbull' because he’s very aggressive and always gives 100 per cent. I’m pleased to be able to have those players behind me.”
