Senator Caroline Kennedy? Y'know, things just didn't work out ...

So the dream is over. It's a sad day for fans of eloquent, Obama-like rhetoric: Caroline Kennedy will not be following in the footsteps of her uncle Robert Kennedy to become a New York senator.

When the 51-year-old originally announced her candidacy in December it was a story that tugged at the heartstrings of all those Americans who hold the Kennedy name close to their hearts.

But the only surviving child of JFK has pulled out of the race to succeed Hillary Clinton, citing "personal reasons".

She was widely mocked for her performance and in this clip on YouTube a buzzer greets her every use of the phrase – 30 times in less than two and a half minutes.

So is that why she withdrew? Or not? Whatever. Y'know ...
