The Senate Leadership Fund will spend nearly $4 million in ads this fall against Indiana Democrat Evan Bayh to try to prevent him from winning back a seat in the Senate.
The SLF, a political action committee with the goal of keeping the Republican Senate majority and tied to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., bought the ads on Friday, according to the Indianapolis Star.
The fund placed $960,000 in ads each week for three weeks in September and one week in October, according to the report. It previously spent $1 million on the race and $800,000 helping Republican Rep. Todd Young win his primary.
A Monmouth University poll last week showed Bayh with a 7-point lead over Young to replace retiring Republican Sen. Dan Coats.
The Rothenberg & Gonzales Political Report/Roll Call rates the Indiana Senate race as Tilts Democrat.
