Semitrailers burst into flames in I-55 crash near Channahon

At least one person was injured Thursday afternoon in a fiery crash involving semitrailers on Interstate 55 near Channahon.

Authorities shut down all northbound lanes of I-55 at milepost 239, just south of Lorenzo Road, according to Illinois State Police. Northbound traffic was rerouted to Route 129 in Wilmington.

The crash involved two commercial vehicles that became engulfed in flames, state police said. One person was reported injured.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the crash involved semitrailers.

Illinois State Police, who are investigating the crash, said additional information will be released later.
