Selma Blair shares MS battle in new Instagram post: 'Afraid and want to cry'

Selma Blair, 47, has been open about her multiple sclerosis since she was diagnosed with the condition, most recently opening up on Instagram about her battle with the condition.

Blair posted an Instagram photo of her bruised legs in the bath with the caption, “Insomnia. I am like a waking baby. Afraid and want to cry. I want my mom. I do.”

Her previous post read, “I have had this scab on my head for two months. It stands out to me as much as my newly bald head. I don’t mind it. I don’t mind the hair loss either. But if my eyebrows totally fall out, I am gonna be singing a different tune.”

The picture was part of a series of leg photos she's shared on the social media platform, highlighting the impact of living with MS.

The After star has been using the social media medium to inform fans about her treatment. She was recently discharged from the hospital and showed a newly shaved head on Instagram.

Blair has also spoken about how her famous friends have banded together to help her, including former Cruel Intentions co-star Sarah Michelle Gellar. In a recent People cover story, Blair spoke about how the The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actress has organized a weekly food train for her longtime friend and her son Arthur, 8.

Celebrities including Reese Witherspoon and Constance Zimmer have been showing their support as well as providing Blair and her son with weekend meal packs. Witherspoon starred alongside Blair in Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde.

Blair was diagnosed in August of 2018 and revealed her diagnosis in October of 2018.

Since then, Gellar has been a fierce advocate for her longtime friend. “When I have a cold, I want to hide from the world under my covers. But not Selma. She is facing this diagnosis, the way she faces everything, with dignity, grace and head on,” she wrote on Instagram in a show of support.

She made her first red carpet appearance since discussing the diagnosis at the Oscars in 2019 and was applauded for her show of strength.
