Selma Blair 'seriously considered' acting return as she reflects on life with MS

Selma Blair 'seriously considered' returning to acting as she reflects her new positive outlook on life amid her ongoing battle with multiple sclerosis.

The Legally Blonde legend, 50, was diagnosed with the lifelong illness back in 2018 and was recently thrown back into the spotlight after appearing on Dancing With The Stars.

It was on the hit-US competition TV show that the Cruel Intentions actress weighed up returning to the big screen, getting in front of the movie camera again.

She now appears on SELF magazine's January cover and has spoken out about her journey with MS and becoming a disability advocacy in Hollywood.

A return to filmmaking is now very differing for Selma, who said: "It takes a lot of energy. I want to say, 'Oh, it’s easy to hire me. I’m not a problem!'."

She explained: "But here’s my rider of things I’ll need, and they’re not just green M&Ms.

"It’s like, how do we make sure there’s a railing on everything? If there’s a railing, I can find a way to lift that leg correctly. But without it, I’m just lost, balance-wise."

Despite excruciating pain and life seeming different, the Hollywood icon insists having 'newfound clarity' and is 'exploring more joy' everyday.

She still rides her horse, named Nibbles, and plans to continue dancing with her DWTS partner Sasha Farber – Selma spoke of spreading her positivity.

"I think I inflict myself on people a bit," she explained. "I realize not everyone’s idea of joy is talking to the woman with the service dog in line somewhere."

But pushing for accessibility, Selma says, is "where my heart is right now".

It comes after she broke her silence following her emotional early exit from Dancing With The Stars; she was forced to bow out due to health concerns.

She announced her exit from the dance competition during rehearsals with Sasha in October last year. The pair left viewers in tears after performing one last Waltz to Andra Day's What The World Needs Now Is Love.

It had been choreographed to reflect her year in 2018, earning them 10s from all the judges.

"This was a really emotional night for me. Because it was filled with so much love for me and my love for everyone here is really, really, really returned," she told PageSix.

Asked about what she felt she had learned about herself from being on the show, she said: "I learned that I could do things that I didn’t even think I wanted to do anymore."

Selma added: "For me, there’s never any, like, despair in comparison when you’re with a crowd like this, with these celebrities and these pros."
