Selling Sunset's Jason Oppenheim says series 5 will bring 'pain' after Chrishell split

Selling Sunset star Jason Oppenheim has said season five will make him "relive sadness and pain" as it documents his whirlwind five month relationship with Chrishell Stause and their subsequent split.

The real estate agent, 45, has spoken about his dread over watching Chrishell, 40, break down in tears over their break-up after he told her he didn't want to have children.

Jason told OK! : “Season five is going to make me relive a lot of sadness, pain and loss.

"As excited as I am about season five – I honestly think it’s our best season ever and I hope we get an Emmy – my excitement is tempered by the fact I don’t want to relive the most difficult loss I’ve ever had to deal with."

"I’m still working through a lot of emotion and pain and sadness. I think that could take a while.”

The couple split after Chrishell expressed her desire to start a family, whereas Jason was reluctant.

Jason announced their break-up on Instagram with the caption: "While Chrishell and I are no longer together, we remain best friends and we will always love and support one another.

"She was the most amazing girlfriend I've ever had, and it was the happiest and most fulfilling relationship of my life.

"While we had different wants regarding a family, we continue to have the utmost respect for one another.

"Chrishell is an exceptional human being and loving her and having her in my life is one of the best things that has ever happened to me."

Jason said how he had been consoled by female fans, who had been sending him sexts and asking if he wanted to cuddle.

He said he would get "weird" texts from unknown numbers asking him to come over for lunch.

Jason is the co-founder of the luxury real estate company that is at the centre of the Netflix show.

Chrishell has been open about her desire to start a family and gave an ultimatum to Jason, feeling she could give a child "an amazing life".

"I didn't have the most ideal childhood," she wrote about growing up in poverty in Kentucky in her memoir.

"Now I'm in a situation where I know I could give a child an amazing life. I've tried to get the success that I have so that I could pour, not just my love, but my resources into making it feel like I'd be doing important work,"

But Jason didn't share the same urge, adding he was "overwhelmed with professional responsibility".

He said: "I wake up in the morning like, 'What would my morning look like with a baby? Who would I hire? Where would we live? How would we travel? How would I be able to manage my offices, agents, and transactions?"

For Chrishell, she has said that she learned from a past relationship that she wouldn't compromise on the topic of children and broke up with Jason after he told her he wasn't ready to be a father.
