Roy Hodgson made 10 changes for the clash with Colchester United at Selhurst Park but came unstuck as his side were dumped out of the competition on penalties.
Despite the changes the Eagles had more than enough quality on the pitch to progress and will look to key moments such as Christian Benteke's first half miss for reasons why they're not in the hat for the third round.
Of course the Premier League is always going to be the priority for Hodgson's side, and attention must now turn to the weekend's clash with Aston Villa as they seek a much-needed three points.
