'Sell Lacazette! Waste of time at Leeds' - Arsenal fans go wild over Eddie Nketiah recall

Arsenal fans have reacted with joy to the news that Eddie Nketiah could be set to end his loan spell at Leeds United prematurely.

Marcelo Bielsa has preferred to play Patrick Bamford up front and turn to the young Gunners star largely as a super sub off the bench.

Given the frustrations over his status at the club, the 20-year-old could be set to return to London Colney with a view to securing a more suitable loan for the remainder of the season.

However, giddy Arsenal fans have suggested keeping the striker in the squad to compete for minutes with one supporter even joking about selling Alexandre Lacazette to make way for Nketiah.

At least, it seemed as though it was joke!

With Freddie Ljungberg now in charge of the Gunners as interim head coach following his successful spell as Under-23s manager last year, it wouldn't be out of the question for Nketiah to be given a chance.

The forward was one of a number of academy graudates to be given a shot by the Swede during his spell in charge of the reserves and Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe and Joe Willock have already made the transition to the senior side.

According to the Mail , Arsenal are keen to find Nketiah a new club in January if he is recalled, with Bristol City one of the most promising options for the player.

To throw some extra spice into the situation, Leeds United are set to face Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup in the new year.

If Nketiah were to stick around under Ljungberg he could conceivably face Bielsa's side - potentially with the chance to show them what they've been missing out on.

Here is what fans made of the news on Twitter.

Nketiah has scored five goals in 13 appearances for Leeds this season, although only he started in ony two of these games.

He is still to feature in the starting line up for Bielsa in a Championship fixture with the Arsenal striker having come off the bench 11 times in the English second tier so far.

Across all competitions he has scored three goals in the Championship and two in the League Cup.

These latter two goals came against Salford City while he has found goals in wins over Brentford and Barnsley in the league in addition to draws with Stoke City and Preston North End.

Last season he scored his first Premier League goal for Arsenal against Burnley.
