Selhurst Park work underway as Crystal Palace create dressing rooms suitable for social distancing

Crystal Palace have called in the builders to knock through walls at Selhurst Park and create dressing rooms suitable for social distancing.

The south London stadium was, alongside the likes of Turf Moor and Stamford Bridge, one which raised significant concerns over being suitable for social distancing given how tight certain areas of the ground are.

Under new Premier League protocols clubs must ensure that social distancing is strictly observed inside changing rooms on matchdays, meaning more space will be required.

Furthermore, players and officials must stagger their entrance and exit from the pitch through the tunnel - the one at Palace already being very cramped - and there must be no congregating in this area, another issue for the Eagles.

Palace do not play at Selhurst Park until they host Burnley on June 29, with trips to Bournemouth and Liverpool before then. Those away games, however, are also posing their own challenges.

The club are yet to finalise travel plans for their visit to the south coast, but will not be staying in Bournemouth the night before the game and could travel in their own cars or in up to three separate coaches on the day in order to maintain social distancing.
