Selfless Rangers fan to raffle off Europa League final tickets in bid to raise cash for charity

A selfless young Rangers fan is set to raffle off Europa League tickets in a bid to raise cash for charities close to his heart.

Thousands of fans are desperate to get their hands on briefs for the Europa League Final later this month in Seville.

The clash will see Rangers take on Eintracht Frankfurt at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium on Wednesday, May 18.

Gers-daft Mitchell Carling, 14, was lucky enough to score tickets for the game but has now chosen to sacrifice them for a good cause.

The teenager, who is from Dundee but now lives in Dubai with his family, quickly realised how many fans were in hot pursuit tickets for the showpiece event.

Now Mitchell is hoping the demand for a chance to see the Light Blues play in Spain will help raise funds for two separate children’s charities.

He said: “When I told my friends about the tickets, I suddenly became the most popular guy at school, that’s when I knew how valuable they were.

"As a football fan from Scotland, occasions like this don’t come around very often, and I saw the amount of money people were willing to spend just to get a ticket.

"I wanted to use my tickets to raise some money for charity."

The funds raised will be donated to Type-1 Diabetes research charity, JDRF, and Caudwell Children, a charity founded to support the lives of disabled and autistic children in the UK.

Mitchell added: "The two charities I have picked are close to our family; JDRF because of the support they gave my little sister when she was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes, and Caudwell Children because we have seen the work they do and how many people they help.

"By raffling the tickets, everyone has the same chance of getting them, and the charities should get a lot of money."

Mitchell has set up an online raffle on Crowdfunder, with tickets priced at £20.

The draw is open until 6pm on Sunday, May 15, with the winner announced immediately to allow time for travel arrangements.

Tickets for the raffle can be purchased here.
