'Selfish' yobs wreck Scots beer garden after 'throwing illegal lockdown party'

A group of ‘selfish’ youths broke into an Edinburgh beer garden and trashed it during an illegal lockdown party.

The Colinton Inn has been targeted multiple times during lockdown, leaving the owner venting their frustrations over the 'very sad' incident on Facebook.

Our sister title Edinburgh Live report how the pub’s beer garden was “wrecked” with beer bottles, rubbish strewn over the ground and rule-breakers urinating on the premises.

A newly erected tent structure and lighting was also damaged.

The owners had been getting set to open on April 26.

They took to Facebook to say: "We are so so sad after a week of working hard sorting out our lovely gardens and pub whilst getting excited about opening again and seeing you all, Friday night brings this delight!

"Some of our young people decided to have a party in our bottom garden?

"If leaving beer bottles rubbish and urinating all over the garden wasn’t enough they have been swinging from our tent structure and wrecked this and the lighting.

"Just sad things have been so difficult what is wrong with some of our young people's selfish empty brains!"

There has been outpouring of support from the local community, with many offering to help and even urging the pub to start a fundraiser to pay for CCTV.

"I am so sorry - the level of disrespect for other people and their property during these trying times is breathtaking", one said.

Another added: "I am so sorry and disgusted to hear this. It has been so difficult and stressful for business owners over the past year, without this happening. It seems that respect is in very short supply nowadays."

"Unbelievable...this mindless behaviour in a time which has challenged us all is beyond belief...so sorry to read this", commented a local.

This is not the first time that the pub has been targeted in this way, with benches and tables previously overturned and smashed by vandals last year, in November.
