Selfish yob ditches giant Betty Boop statue at river side beauty spot leaving Scots locals furious

Scots were left furious after a selfish yob ditched a giant Betty Boop statue at the side of a river.

A large three-foot tall heavy mannequin was spotted abandoned at a beauty spot on the River Irvine in Newmilns, Ayrshire.

Locals in the area hit out on social media over the bizarre find, hoping the person who left it was 'ashamed' of themselves.

It comes after they grew concerned about how it would impact on wildlife and the enviroment.

Dawn Robertson posted pictures of the statue on Facebook to raise awareness.

She said: "Why?...

"Someone has thrown a large Betty Boop mannequin over the fence that leads onto the river, near the old band rehearsal building!

"Someone could just have taken it to the dump instead of creating more mess and danger to wildlife etc.

"It is not biodegradable...how do you think this will help the landscape?

"I don't understand folk, I truly don't!"

One person said: "It's a disgrace. Cannot understand the mentality of these people.

"They have no respect for the environment, other residents or wildlife."

A second person said: "I just don't get it.

"I went to look at the river and admits all the cans, Buckfast bottles and so on scattered down the embankment and then my eyes saw the mannequin?

"The thing is someone may have bought it off them to upcycle or whatever...nope let's just dump it over the fence.

"I hope whoever it belongs to is ashamed or that folk that know who had one, and now don't, pull them up on this."

A third comment read: "Why dump it, somebody would have taken it!"

A fourth added: "Probably stolen from somewhere and dumped."
