Selfish Scots should toe the party line on helping to keep virus in check

No one can plead ignorance of the deadly potential of Covid-19.

Thousands of Scots have died and our economy has been rocked to its foundation.

The fall-out will be with us for a long time even if the Holy Grail – a vaccine – is found.

With the R rate now thought to be at 1.4 and restrictions placed on house visits in Scotland biggest city, we can see the virus isn’t even close to going away.

Much of the increase in positive cases was inevitable after lockdown measures were eased.

We are all mixing more with others as society edges back to some degree of normality.

But what is clear is that some either just don’t get it or don’t care about the consequences of spreading Covid-19.

It is incredible to think that 300 people would gather for a house party, as happened at a property in Midlothian last weekend.

What were they thinking? It certainly wasn’t about the tragic victims of the virus gasping for their last breath in an intensive care unit.

Last weekend, police in Scotland also had to break up 300 house parties that breached the rules.

It all adds up to a lot of people who are a danger to themselves and others.

The virus is still very much with us and as soon as everyone understands that, the better.
