Selfish Scots boyfriend trashed home as teacher partner didn't text him back

A selfish boyfriend smashed up his home in a drunken rage - because his schoolteacher partner didn't text him back.

Jamie Hamilton lost the plot at his home in Troon, South Ayrshire, last month.

Procurator Fiscal Depute Alison McFadyen told Ayr Sheriff Court the incident took place at about 4.50pm on June 17.

The prosecutor explained: "She had received several messages from him throughout the day and when she arrived home she noticed he'd been drinking within the property.

"He was shouting and swearing at her for not responding to the texts.

"He grabbed items within the property and threw them against the walls.

"She ran from the property and phoned 999."

Police arrived and, the court heard, he told them to "f*** off" and said it was "his business if he wants to wreck his house".

After hearing that Hamilton, 46, was unemployed, financially dependent on her, and recognised he had a problem with binge drinking, Sheriff John Montgomery placed him on a Community Payback Order.

He ordered him to be supervised by social workers for 12 months and attend alcohol counselling.
