A group of drinkers have been branded 'stupid' and 'selfish' for leaving a cemetery on the outskirts of Glasgow like a rubbish tip after a drinking session this weekend.
Photos shared by a local this morning show discarded bottles, broken glass, plastic bags and cardboard strewn across a section of the graveyard, as well as bottles left on a grave, at Cathcart Cemetery in the south side of the city.
A tweet sent to East Renfrewshire Council to make them aware of the mess read: "Hello East Renfrewshire Council. Most mornings, I pick up bottles, cans and broken glass from Cathcart Cemetery.
"You really need to put 2 bins at the top of the hill, signs reminding people to behave decently, & possibly a bench.
"This is going to get worse. PS the existing bins are full."
And the images of the rubbish strewn cemetery - a popular spot among locals to visit for walks, has caused outrage among those who have seen them.
One person responded with 'FFS', while another wrote "Shocking! Though they could be 25 bins and 30 signs and that would not make a difference to people that believe it's acceptable to drink in the graveyard".
With the author of the original tweet responding with: "Bucky or champagne, it's all the same to me. These people are selfish and stupid."
