Scarlets v Dragons team news as self-isolating Jamie Roberts misses out while Liam Williams fails to recover in time

The Dragons will be without Jamie Roberts when they visit the Scarlets on New Year's Day.

A number of players are self-isolating due to community transmissions, including the Wales centre.

Fly-half Sam Davies remains unavailable through injury, but fellow Wales international Nick Tompkins returns to the side after missing the Boxing Day defeat to Cardiff Blues at Rodney Parade.

Wales prop Leon Brown also returns to the starting XV for the Dragons.

He'll pack down alongside Brok Harris and Elliot Dee, while back-row Harrison Keddie is named captain in the absence of senior stars such as Davies and Roberts.

Former Scarlet Rhodri Williams is called onto the bench after missing Boxing Day while there is also a return for lock Joe Davies.

For the Scarlets, Wales full-back Liam Williams narrowly missed out on a return - having been out injured since Wales' last Autumn Nations Cup fixture.

As such, he's been given a bit more time to get up to full fitness - with Angus O'Brien, who scored the winning try against the Ospreys on Boxing Day, carrying on in the 15 jersey. .

Tom Prydie comes into the back-three with Tom Rogers ruled out with a knee injury. Former Dragons centre Tyler Morgan partners skipper Steff Hughes in midfield, while Dan Jones and Kieran Hardy continue at half-back.

Prop Wyn Jones will become the latest player to reach a century of Scarlets appearances as he continues in the front-row alongside Ryan Elias and Javan Sebastian,while Sam Lousi returns after being absent for the last two weeks and packs down alongside Jake Ball in the second row.
