A 55-year-old man has been found dead on a self-dialysing machine in a remote Roebourne clinic.

The death of the man, whose body was reportedly found hooked up to a dialysis machine in the Pilbara clinic, is not being treated as suspicious.

Police say they are preparing a coroner's report about the death.

The man was found at the Mawarnkarra Health Service in Roebourne on Monday morning.

The ABC understands the man was participating in community-supported haemodialysis.

Under the scheme, patients are able to independently access machines at clinics if their homes aren't suitable for dialysis.

In a statement, the North Metropolitan Health Service said staff were saddened to learn of the recent passing of a community-supported haemodialysis (CSHD) patient at the Mawarnkarra Health Service.

They have started an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the patient's death.
