Selena Gomez shows off kidney transplant scar as she flaunts figure in swimsuit

Selena Gomez has proudly shown off her kidney transplant scar as she finally accepts her body and feels “confident” in herself.

The actress and singer, 28, confessed she feels “confident in who I am and what I went through” in an empowering Instagram post that she shared on Thursday.

Addressing her 193 million followers the pop star told how she found it “very difficult” to show her scar after her kidney transplant in 2017.

Selena has been battling lupus - a chronic autoimmune disease - since 2013.

As a result of suffering from the disease, she underwent a kidney transplant in the summer of 2017 and received the organ donation from her close friend Francia Raisa.

The singer was snapped flinging her arms above her head as she posed standing next to her hot tub in her back garden.

The star donned a figure-hugging sky blue one-piece with zip detail for the post about body confidence.

“When I got my kidney transplant, I remember it being very difficult at first showing my scar,” she revealed in her caption.

“I didn’t want it to be in photos, so I wore things that would cover it up. Now, more than ever, I feel confident in who I am and what I went through...and I’m proud of that.

Her latest snap comes after Selena confessed her battle with lupus has left her feeling “insecure” due to her fluctuating weight.

The former Disney star has to manage her lupus symptoms - that can include swelling in the joints, muscle pain, fever, chest pain, hair loss, mouth/nasal ulcers, facial rashes and extreme fatigue - with different medications, which have side effects - including weight gain.

Speaking to Cosmopolitan magazine earlier this month as she prepares to release her own make-up brand, the Wolves hitmaker explained that she has had to change her mindset in relation to her image, following her tragic diagnosis.

"I've gotten insecure. I also have lupus so I fluctuate in my weight a lot, so I've had to learn pretty early to have thick skin when it comes to this stuff and to understand that it doesn't matter at all. It's just hateful. It's all it is," she bravely told.

"T - Congratulations on what you’re doing for women, launching @lamariette whose message is just that...all bodies are beautiful,” wrote Selena, as she referenced the $120 Selena One Piece swimsuit she collaborated on with La'Mariette that she was showcasing in the picture.
