Selena Gomez says she sometimes fears she'll 'be alone forever'

Selena Gomez has spoken about how she sometimes worries she is going to be “alone forever”.

Earlier this year, Gomez released her third solo studio album, titled Rare.

The singer recently dissected the lyrics of the title track of the album for a video with Apple Music, explaining how she has suffered from self-esteem and confidence issues for a “long time”.

At the end of the video, the 27-year-old opened up about how she feels being single, stating that she is “still a baby”.

“I got a lot to figure out and…but I do know, I believe,” she said when deciphering the meaning of her song “Rare”, which includes lines such as: “I’m not gonna beg for you, I’m not gonna let you make me cry.”

“Some days, when I wake up and I’m annoyed and I’m like, ‘I’m gonna be alone forever’,” Gomez stated.

Nonetheless, when these feelings do come over the musician, she does not allow them to dwell for very long.

“But after that 15 minutes goes away, I say to myself, ‘I know that there’s someone for everybody,” she said.

Earlier this year, Gomez spoke out about the detrimental impact of social media, saying that in her opinion, Instagram is “destroying” some members of her generation.

The star, who has 170m followers on the social media platform, told Dazed that Instagram provided some inspiration for the title of her new album.

“It’s a huge part of why I named my album Rare – because there’s so much pressure to look the same as everyone else,” Gomez remarked.

In June last year, it was reported that Gomez had deleted Instagram from her phone, a decision she said she made to safeguard her mental health.
