Selena Gomez says her relationship with Justin Bieber is 'completely closed'

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Selena Gomez opened up about finally ending the rumors around her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

While Gomez and Bieber may have called it quits in 2018, the singles Gomez released in the lead up to 2020’s Rare were about her heartbreak over the loss of Bieber.

The two songs that were about her relationship with Bieber were released as singles back to back. Gomez shared, "It was my idea to release 'Lose You to Love Me' and 'Look at Her Now',"

She told Rolling Stone that her record label “didn’t want to take away from either song," but sad, "I knew from the get-go that 'Lose You to Love Me' was going to be the bigger song, because I just felt it in my heart.”

Gomez said, “I wanted people to take away that this was a journey and that it was completely closed. I don’t want people to see me as just sad and hurt. I didn’t want that anymore. I wanted people to know that I experienced something real, and that part of me is over."

Gomez wanted to distance herself from the now married ‘Yummy’ singer.

In an October 2019 interview with Ryan Seacrest, the ‘Lose You To Love Me’ singer confirmed that her singles were in fact breakup tracks about Bieber.

She told Seacrest, "These two songs were me wrapping up a chapter in a pretty little bow, and the rest of the album is just all about where I am now and where I’m going so in my opinion, these are great songs, but I’ve saved the best for later."
