Selena Gomez made donation to Time's Up that 'far exceeded her salary' for Woody Allen movie

Selena Gomez _ who's received backlash for working with accused child abuser Woody Allen on an upcoming movie _ reportedly contributed a sizable donation to an initiative that aids the fight against sexual misconduct.

The donation to Time's Up, which Gomez made anonymously, "far exceeded her salary" for the film and will go to the organization's legal fund, a source told People magazine.

Gomez has been criticized by some for remaining silent after several of her co-stars in "A Rainy Day in New York" _ including Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Hall _ vowed to donate their salaries from the film to various organizations, including Time's Up, after reflecting on their decision to work with Allen, who directed and wrote the film.

It's unclear when Gomez made her donation to Time's Up, which provides legal support to those who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace. The 25-year-old singer and actress expressed her support for Time's Up when it launched at the beginning of the year.

"It's time to shift the balance in the workplace, from representing the few to representing us all," Gomez posted to Instagram at the time.

Allen is accused of molesting his daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was 7. Farrow has reiterated those allegations multiple times, including in a recent interview with Gayle King set to air Thursday on "CBS This Morning."

Earlier this week, a fan asked Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, in an Instagram comment to make her daughter issue an apology for working with Allen. Teefey replied that she'd urged Gomez not to work with the scandal-scarred director.

"Sorry, No one can make Selena do anything she doesn't want to. I had a long talk with her about not working with him and it didn't click," Teefey wrote. "Her team are amazing people. There is no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes all her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It falls on deaf ears."
