Selena Gomez Cannes 2019: Star kicks off Cannes Film Festival 2019 at premiere of The Dead Don't Die

The 72nd Cannes Film Festival started with a bang on Tuesday night as stars including Selena Gomez, Adam Driver and Tilda Swinton hit the red carpet for the premiere of The Dead Don't Die.

Gomez, who wore a striking Louis Vuitton white crop top and skirt with strings of Bulgari diamonds, flew into Cannes on Monday for the premiere of the film, a Jim Jarmusch movie about a small town beset by zombies.

Joining Gomez on the red carpet for the customary Cannes group photo was Tilda Swinton, who posed with Gomez in a striking silver dress with diamanté details.

Cannes jury member Elle Fanning also stepped out in a long peach embroidered gown. Fanning, 21, had joined her fellow jury members for a press conference and photo call earlier that day, where she defended suggestions she is too young to be on the judging panel. "I am young" she said, "[but] I started acting very young as well. I've been on many movie sets and started off with one of the best… I feel proud to represent a young voice at this festival."

The Dead Don't Die is the opening movie of the Cannes Film Festival, which will also see appearances from Elton John and Taron Egerton later this week for the premiere of John's biopic Rocketman.

Quentin Tarantino is also set to premiere his much-publicised 1969-set movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt.
