Selena Gomez beams in sweet throwback Instagram photo as fans ask if she's teasing new lyrics

Selena Gomez shared a smiling childhood photo of herself on Instagram with a cryptic caption.

The singer, 27, posted a throwback picture showing her as a young girl, posing in front of a traditional school portrait-style backdrop.

She captioned it: “We always go into it blindly.”

The star’s followers described the sweet snap as “so precious” and “the cutest,” with others claiming she hasn’t “changed a bit.”

Some fans also began to speculate that her mysterious caption could be a lyric from a forthcoming single, as Gomez has previously teased lines from new releases in Instagram posts.

“We always go into it blindly (is it a lyric from your new single?)” one fan asked on Instagram, while another Twitter user wrote: “#SG2 is coming!!! The caption lyrics from a song!!!! SHE’S TEASING.”

A third fan noted on Twitter: “Compared to all her recent posts, this one stands out the most!!! It’s so random and even the caption is different than her other recent posts!! YUP YUPPPP #SG2 LEAD IS DEFINITELY COMING.”

Despite being her third studio album, Gomez previously referred to the record in a tweet as “album #2” and “#SG2” as it will be her second release with Interscope, and fans have since adopted the title as a shorthand.

The musician told Jimmy Fallon back in June that she had completed work on her new record.

“I’m actually done,” she told the talk show host, revealing that it took “four years” for her to reach “a good place with this album.”

“It’s just because I had such huge moments that happened in my life personally that [I thought] ‘How was I going to capture this?’ and ‘How was I actually going to feel good about what I was saying?’” she said.

“So I just kept going, and I’m relieved.”

Speaking to Elle in September, she teased a new track called Flawless which is about the singer “encouraging a younger version of [herself].”

“Even when you’re imperfect, even when you’re feeling worthless, you are flawless,” she explained to the magazine. “It’s a song I’m going to sing for the rest of my life.”
