Selena Gomez And David Henrie To Reprise Wizards Roles

Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez, the 31-year-old actress and singer, is set to return to the wizarding world with a new project that has fans buzzing. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Gomez clarified that the upcoming project is not a reboot but rather a different version of the beloved Disney Channel hit show, Wizards of Waverly Place.

Gomez expressed her excitement about reprising her role as the family wizard, Alex Russo, alongside David Henrie, who will also be returning as Justin Russo. The revival, announced in January, will feature magic and familiar characters from the original series.

The new series will follow the aftermath of a mysterious incident at WizTech, where an adult Justin Russo has left his wizard powers behind to lead a normal life with his family. However, his world is turned upside down when a powerful young wizard named Billie shows up at his door, requiring his guidance to navigate the wizarding world.

The lead role of Billie will be played by Janice LeAnn Brown, with Alkaio Thiele portraying Justin's oldest son, Roman, and Mimi Gianopulos taking on the role of Justin's wife, Giada.

Gomez and Henrie are not only reprising their roles but also serving as executive producers on the series. The pilot episode has already been filmed, with the cast members signing a set piece in a nod to the original show's tradition.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of the Russo family, with speculations about other original cast members potentially making appearances in the new series. While Jake T. Austin, who played the youngest Russo sibling, has not been confirmed, hints from the set piece signing have fueled rumors of his involvement.

The sequel to Wizards of Waverly Place is expected to bring back the magic and charm that captivated audiences during the show's original run from 2007 to 2012. With filming wrapped on the pilot episode, fans can look forward to reuniting with their favorite wizarding family in the near future.
