Select your Leeds United XI for Brighton clash as two youngsters push for recalls

Leeds United face arguably their biggest game since promotion to the Premier League when they host Brighton on Sunday. The Whites currently sit in the bottom three on goal difference having played a game more than Burnley and know that three points is needed at Elland Road.

Team news had looked bleak upon the completion of Wednesday night’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, with both Raphinha and Jack Harrison going off after receiving treatment. However, it appears as though both will be fit and available for selection, which is a huge boost for Jesse Marsch as his attacking options had begun to look stretched.

It is yet unclear, though, whether Patrick Bamford will be involved for Leeds with Marsch neither confirming or denying if he will be available. Bamford has been absent since the 3-2 win at Wolves in March and given the nature of the injury, has had to be monitored carefully.

Leeds will certainly be without the suspended duo Luke Ayling and Daniel James, while Adam Forshaw, Stuart Dallas, Crysencio Summerville and Tyler Roberts are all out for the season. And given the poor performance against Chelsea, Marsch will face a number of selection dilemmas for the Seagulls.

Jamie Shackleton will be pushing to start at right back, as Leeds can ill afford to have key man Raphinha lining up in that position again. Joe Gelhardt will also hopeful of a recall to the starting XI after creating Leeds’ best chance of the game in his 12-minute cameo on Wednesday.
