Selco to open new Liverpool store creating dozens of jobs

A new building supplies store is set to open in Liverpool, creating dozens of jobs for the local area.

Selco Builders Warehouse said it hopes to create more than 30 roles at the new branch set to open on Dunnings Bridge Road in Bootle in April next year.

Selco said it will be its 70th branch in the UK and recruitment will cover a wide variety of positions, with the jobs expected to be given to people from the local area.

Howard Luft, chief executive of Selco, said: “We have always had the long-term target of opening a branch in Liverpool and we are excited it will become a reality next year.

“We are delighted with the site we have secured and our aim is to open next April, subject to ongoing developments with coronavirus.

“We have four branches in Manchester and one in Warrington so this will strengthen our offering in the north west of England.

“Our recruitment policy has always been to employ people from the branch’s local community and that is continuing here."

He said his firm wants to give people in Liverpool "genuine career opportunities and the chance to climb through the ranks at Selco".

Mr Luft added: “The branch will also provide a further boost to tradespeople in the area as they will have a greater chance to enjoy the benefits Selco provides – unrivalled availability, with the widest range of products in stock, as well as excellent customer service and trade pricing.”
