The economy minister said Thursday he has received a report that two vessels carrying Japan-related cargo were attacked near the Straits of Hormuz.
Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Hiroshige Seko revealed the incident during a meeting with the president of the International Gas Union and other officials.
The ministry held an urgent meeting to collect information, Seko said. "We will call for [relevant organizations] to be on alert for a while and check the nation's energy supply system to implement necessary measures," he added.
