NAKHON SI THAMMARAT: Rock singer Sek Loso was on Thursday sentenced to five days in jail for firing nine shots into the air and one into the ground at a temple in Phrom Khiri district on the night of Dec 29.
The 44-year-old performer was acompanied by his lawyer Mongkholvijit Thanasophon and girlfriend Apisaya Pattanaworasap when he arrived at the Nakhon Si Thammarat Provinicial Court on Thursday morning to hear the judgement in the case.
Prosecutors arraigned him on charges of illegally carrying and discharging a firearm in a public area.
He was sentenced to five days in jail. His lawyer said he would immediately apply release on bail and appeal the sentence.
Sek, whose real name is Seksan Sookpimay, live streamed a video of himself firing nine shots into the air from a handgun, and one shot into the ground, in front of the statue of king Taksin the Great at Wat Khao Khun Phanom in Nakhon Si Thammarat on Dec 29, shortly after playing a concert there.
He claimed to be paying respect to king Taksin.
He was arrested at his house in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district on Dec 31 following a showdown with police.
