
Rock star Sek Loso on Friday failed to show up to acknowledge a charge of drug use, and Bangkok police issued a second, final summons to hear the charge.
He was summonsed to report to Kannayao police on Friday after a sample of his urine tested by the Institute of Forensic Science at Police General Hospital showed positive for the drugs methamphetamine and ecstasy.
His lawyer, Mongkolvijit Dhanasophon, met Kannayao police on Friday to seek a postponement. He said the rocker’s personal manager informed him that Sek was tied up with business and nobody knew where he was. His client was under stress, he said, worried that the drug case that might affect his work.
Police then issued a second summons for him to report on Jan 17.
Pol Col Sarawut Jindakham, deputy chief of the Metropolitan Police Division 2, said the singer would face an arrest warrant if he again failed to show up.
Sek Loso, 43, whose real name is Seksan Sookpimay, was taken to Kannayao police station on Dec 31 and charged with resisting police in the performance of their duty. Police had gone to his house in Nanthawan housing estate on Sukhabiban 5 Road in Bangkok’s Bang Khen district to arrest him for firing gunshots into the air in front of the statue of King Taksin the Great at Wat Khao Khun Phanom in Phrommakhiri district of Nakhon Si Thammarat on Dec 29.
He told police he fired the shots in a show of respect for King Taksin.
Phrommakhiri police have charged him with unauthorised possession of a firearm and firing shots in a public place. He denied another charge of illegally obtaining a pistol. The Nakhon Si Thammarat Court later granted him bail.
Sek underwent drug rehabilitation in 2012 and vowed to stay away from drugs.
On his Facebook page, the embattled rocker was shown having lunch with his new girlfriend, a former Maxim model, at an undisclosed location.
