The Legal Execution Department (LED) is ready to proceed with the long-delayed auction of an Airbus A310-222 next week, according to director-general Ruenvadee Suwanmongkol.
The Airbus jet, the first asset of its kind to be put up for sale, was scheduled to be auctioned in December last year with a reference price of 30 million baht. The planned auction was postponed because of a mistake in the process of providing a reference price.
Ms Ruenvadee said the auction of the 270-seat plane will take place on Sept 6 at Don Mueang airport, where it is parked since its confiscation in January last year. The bidding starts at 30 million baht, she said.
The department chief yesterday took the media to inspect the aircraft at the airport ahead of the planned auction.
She said the aeroplane formerly belonged to Asia Konnex Airlines, an aviation broker and services company that lost a legal case with Watson Farley and Williams Thailand Co.
It previous flight was from South Korea to Don Mueang on Jan 13 last year, and as soon as it landed at the Bangkok airport, the plaintiff took the LED officials to the plane to have it forfeited, she said.
Ms Ruenvadee said the plaintiff estimated the aircraft's price at 30 million baht and urged potential bidders to inspect the plane's condition to determine for themselves. However, they are advised to contact her office prior to the inspection because the plane is in a restricted area.
The winner is required to pay for the parking cost of the plane at Don Mueang airport, which is 10,700 baht per day. Accumulated costs up to Sept 6 are over 4 million baht, she said.
