Seibu Properties Inc., a real estate company of the Seibu Group, will start renting huts that can be used as work spaces. The huts will be built under elevated train tracks or on idle land owned by the group, such as resort hotel grounds. The company anticipates that the huts will be used as bases for teleworking and hobbies.

The initial rollout will be three steel-framed huts measuring between 9.9 to 11.9 square meters near the Musashi-Seki Station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line in Nerima Ward, Tokyo. The company will start accepting applications for rentals on Feb. 25. Rent for two of the three huts, including utilities but excluding tax, is expected to range between 50,000 yen to 55,000 yen per month, and the hourly rent for the third hut is slated to be set at 800, yen excluding tax.

In addition to a toilet and sink, there is also a deck and shade tarps. The interior decorations, such as wallpaper, can be changed freely. The company plans to rent a total of 1,000 huts across the country in the future.
