Segro starts building new industrial park on former Nestle site in Hayes

Segro has started construction on its next major project, which will see the warehousing giant redevelop part of a former Nestle chocolate and coffee factory in west London.

The landlord and developer, which has seen high demand for space during the pandemic as retailers try and cope with more online orders, will create four warehouse properties totalling 239,665 square feet at the site in Hayes.

One of the buildings, nearly 100,000 square feet, has already been pre-let to a firm, which has not yet been named.

But, in a vote of confidence that demand for logistics space will continue to soar in the capital, Segro will build the other buildings speculatively, without any tenants signed up.

The FTSE 100 company pointed to sustainability features at the site, including electric vehicle charging points..

The industrial park forms part of a wider regeneration of the 30-acre former Nestle factory site, with builder Barratt delivering over 1,300 new homes on the remainder of the site.
