Seething Neil Lennon brands Rangers 'scandalous' as he again defends Scott Brown

Neil Lennon has launched another defence of Scott Brown as he slammed "scandalous" Rangers .

The Celtic boss spoke out just minutes before the clash with Livingston that could send the Hoops closer to their inevitable eight in a row.

Brown has been charged by the SFA for "not acting in the best interest of Scottish football" after he celebrated in front of the Rangers fans following Sunday’s derby win.

Lennon remains incensed by the treatment his captain received at the hands of Rangers and accused the SFA of "clutching at straws" in their bid to punish the 33-year-old.

Lennon arrives at Celtic Park all smiles but his mood was to turn sour when asked about Brown (PA)

The Irishman told the BBC: "He's not done it to the Rangers fans. It's quite obvious he's fist pumping the Celtic fans. I don't think he has any case to answer for.

"It's clutching at straws to call it anything. He's not even looking at the Rangers fans, he's well away. He's doing it to his own support. It's clutching at straws for me.

"He's done nothing wrong. Somebody - the Press, Rangers, whatever - are looking for someone to put the blame on their behaviour and they're pointing at Scott Brown.

"He was elbowed, he was punched. It was absolutely scandalous the way he was treated on the pitch."
