Seething Billy Vunipola marched back 20 metres by ref for dissent in huge Premiership clash

There's an old saying in rugby that the referee is always right, even when he's wrong.

Players disputing refereeing decisions in the professional game has been the source of much discourse over the last 12 months or so.

But Luke Pearce produced a timely reminder that, sometimes, you just need to keep your opinions to yourself.

Just over 20 minutes into Exeter v Saracens - a bitter rivalry - in the Premiership, Pearce penalised the visitors at Sandy Park.

Sarries' Juggernaut No.8 Billy Vunipola was not happy with what had happened in the previous passage and approached Pearce to voice his displeasure.

Bit with a short blast of the whistle, referee Pearce marched Sarries back an initial 10 metres.

As he walked back into position, past the official, Vunipola couldn't resist having another nibble and Pearce strode another, generous, 10 metres into the Saracens' half.

The referee then called over Sarries skipper Alex Goode and relayed the message that if Vunipola continued, he'd be wandering towards the naughty step for 10 minutes.

Seething with what had happened, Vunipola was then seen to be ignoring team-mates who were attempting to calm him down.

In the end, Exeter came out on top 18-15 in a ferocious contest.
