‘Seen the light’ - Chelsea fans say the same thing after major Fikayo Tomori decision

Chelsea fans have been left delighted after Fikayo Tomori returned to the England squad after a three-year absence.

The defender left Chelsea during the summer transfer window as he rejoined AC Milan on a permanent deal.

Tomori had previously impressed at the San Siro during the second half of last season as he spent a period on-loan in Italy. His performances were good enough for the Italian giants to pursue a permanent deal and they eventually sealed his signature for around £25million.

His move to Italy ended Tomori’s long attachment to Chelsea, having progressed through the club’s youth academy before eventually establishing himself in the first team under Frank Lampard.

The 23-year-old has continued his excellent form with Milan and has so far made eight appearances for the Rossoneri and particularly caught the eye in the club’s Champions League loss against Liverpool despite scoring an own goal.

That form has also seen him draw the attention of the national team. Tomori has so far made one appearance for his country with a six-minute cameo against Kosovo in November 2019.

He has finally been recalled by Gareth Southgate and Chelsea fans are expecting him to continue making his mark on both the club and international stage.

Here are the best of the responses from social media:

Tomori has a couple of chances to impress Southgate during the upcoming international break.

The Three Lions first face Andorra in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday October 9th before they take on Hungary at Wembley Stadium three days later.

England currently sit top of Group I having won five out of their opening six qualifiers after Robert Lewandowski scored to secure a 1-1 draw for Poland during the last international break.
