What is Frederick Forsyth raving about (Dear George, G2, November 18)? There is no evidence that any member of the left has ever applauded Saddam, Bin Laden or Kim Jong-Il - with the exception of George Galloway, when face to face with the Butcher of Baghdad, which might be counted as a form of coercion.

Mr Forsyth appears to believe nobody from the left opposed Mosley, or fought Franco. Next time please print the names of the writers at the top of the piece, to avoid sudden shocks.

Last August, an American traveller on an Australian camping tour sewed Canadian flags to her rucksack, says Richard Dawkins, because everyone likes Canadians. Our tour guide told me that on a previous journey, a group of Canadians, offended by this, had carefully cut out the flags in another unpopular American's bags. Not a word was said by the victim.
