Cocktail Girl

See Ya, Wouldn't Want To Be (well, some of ) Ya (anyway)

At around this time of year, my friends Marty Finklestein (she's in telly), Julie Goose (fashion) and I (cocktails) like to whisk ourselves off to a chic little Greek hideaway we know, where we tan, smoke Duty Free cigs, and get thoroughly Metaxa- addled for a week or so. So we're gonna – on Sunday in fact. Yay! Obviously, I've had to dedicate the last few days to extensive preparation. I have been thoroughly waxed, tweaked and pedicured, and tomorrow, I shall be spray-tanned cappuccino-froth brown from head to toe. I've been diet-combining the v hot What Would Jesus Eat? diet and The Perricone Prescription for two whole weeks. The whole effect will set off my new Topshop black 'n' gold lurex striped bikini marvellously.

Trivia fans, while I'm away, I'll be using: SPF 50 on my face, and 30 on the rest of me. Lancaster pro gear, probably. I'll be dipping my feet into the cool clear waters of our villas pool and lip synching gently along to: The Gorillaz album, Basement Jaxx, The Singles, and let's face it, probably a Best Of All Woman compilation album, too. I'll be casually: Throwing diaphanous Melissa Oderbash kaftans on over my gloriously bronzed skin for a dressier evening look (which I'll almost certainly complete with an espadrille wedge.) I'll be eating: Greek stuff (surprisingly Atkins!) And I'll be reading: The rest of Piers Morgan's autobiography (which I brought a month ago, but which has proved too heavy and cumbersome to be slid elegantly into my Mulberry Bayswater bag, and therefore has had to hang out on my bedside table.) Scoop by Evelyn Waugh (while I'm 'doing' journalism) The Magus by John Fowles (apparently, you HAVE to read it in Greece) Sleeping Arrangements by Laura Shaine Cunningham (The Cocktail desk says it's: 'Brilliant!') And some other stuff. All recommendations gratefully received, although please remember that I only do bleak if it's affluent glossy bleak, in the style of, say, Alan Hollinghurst's The Line Of Beauty. Rafael says I can blog from abroad if I want, but I'm not entirely sure I do. You'll have to struggle by without me.
