So proud of our NHS workers, Jonathan Taylor decided to create a spectacular lighting display in their honour.
And he lit up the whole of the outside of his house in blue to show his appreciation.
To the sound of Heroes by Alesso he carried out the big switch on and neighbours came out with their phones to capture the show.
And within hours of it being posted on Facebook, it was viewed over 1,500 times.
"The NHS staff are doing an incredible job, they are amazing," said Jonathan, of Westlea, Seaham.
"I couldn't do what they do, so I thought I would do something to show them how much we all care and show them how much we appreciate what amazing work they do."
Jonathan, 24, decided to create the lighting display on Thursday to coincide when the nation stepped outside to applaud the front line staff.
But technical issues meant he was forced to push back the switch on until Friday.
Jonathan added: "When I was at Seaham School of Technology, at the age of 16, I did two weeks work experience at the Sunderland Empire as a theatre technician and I learned about lighting.
"It kind of stuck with me and I carried it on from there. I made it my hobby and bought my equipment," added Jonathan, who works in site investigation in the construction industry and does lighting for discos as a sideline.
"Earlier on in the week I saw the Angel of the North lit up in blue as part of major monuments being lit up for the NHS and that inspired me.
"But it was my dad who said 'just do it'.
"It took me from 10am to 6pm to set everything up on Thursday but when it came to the switch on I had technical problems, so I had to postpone it until Friday night at 8pm.
"I did it to music and chose Heroes by Alesso.
"The neighbours started to look out of their windows and they came outside with their phones and were filming it," added Jonathan, who lives with his parents Paul and Pauline.
"The outside of the house was lit up and it looked great.
"The NHS do such a marvellous job that I am thinking of doing this once a week every Saturday and choose a different theme each time.
"It was on Facebook for only a few hours and it was viewed more than 1,500 times."
