FOUR of Scotland's Aldi stores are set to benefit from a £300 million investment drive across the supermarket's UK operation.

The investment will fund major refurbishments for the stores to increase their capacity and improve the sustainability of the business.

The bakery, health and beauty and fresh food areas are also expected to be improved across the stores.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of national real estate at Aldi UK, said the upgrades will improve the shopping experience for customers while also improving the workplace for staff.

He said: “We’re continuing to invest in our stores to ensure our customers have the best possible shopping experience at Aldi.

“These upgrades will help us create even more convenient and efficient stores for both customers and colleagues while also supporting our sustainability ambitions.”

The announcement builds on Aldi’s wider investment plans for 2026, which also include a £370 million commitment to opening new stores across the UK.

In December 2025, £43 million plans to open two new Scottish stores and expand five others were unveiled.

Bishopbriggs and Dumbarton are set for new stores, with existing sites due for an upgrade at Greenock, Perth, Linlithgow, Paisley, and Stirling.

Across the UK, there are 25 locations that are set to benefit from upgrades, with four in Scotland.

The Scottish stores set for a refurb are:

  • Newhailes Road, Musselburgh
  • Basin View, Montrose
  • Greenpark Drive, Polmont
  • Cornhill Shopping Arcade, Aberdeen

The chain said that much of its success in Scotland “can be attested to its commitment to championing locally produced food and drink”.

In October 2025, the National Farmers Union (NFU) Scotland published a report showing that 41% of products on Aldi shelves were of Scottish origin, the highest of all supermarket chains. Aldi was also commended at the Scotland Food and Drink Awards 2025, being awarded “Best for Scottish Sourcing” for the fourth time.

Aldi said it had donated £10,000 to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS), which would help to provide “vital hospice care services for children and families throughout Scotland”.
