See the beautiful cherry blossom at Alnwick Garden from the sky in stunning drone footage

Stunning drone footage of cherry blossoms in bloom in Northumberland is definitive proof Spring has finally sprung.

The Cherry Orchard at the Garden has now burst to life in spectacular fashion.

Aerial footage shows the neat rows of trees forming an almost perfect snow-white carpet of blossom.

Watch the video above for a glimpse of the bloom of the large collection of Tai Haku cherries right on our doorstep.

Known as the ‘great white cherry’ for the unusually large, pure white flowers, Tai Haku trees are noted for their ornamental beauty.

Popular in ancient Japan, the variety was thought to be lost for good, until a single tree was discovered in a garden in Surrey in 1923.

Every tree now growing, including all of those found in Alnwick, is descended from this specimen.

Planted in 2008, the Cherry Orchard boasts 326 Tai Haku Cherry Trees as well as 50 swinging seats for those wishing to enjoy the serenity of their environment.

Each tree has been dedicated by loved ones to someone special in their lives.
