See Shane Lowry’s delightful and rowdy British Open celebration

By about 9 p.m., Shane Lowry, with help from friends and family, finished all the beers in the players lounge after the Irish golfer won The Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Ireland on Sunday, according to Golf Channel. Lowry finished with a six-stroke lead over Englishman Tommy Fleetwood.

Padraig Harrington, a two-time winner at The Open, would attest to the lack of libations. And so the afterparty began, with Lowry and company heading to Dublin to continue the celebration. Harrington said they would continue the party at 37 Dawson Street, where they would certainly not run out of beer. That party looked like an absolute madhouse in the most delightful way.

Perhaps the festivities are only getting started for Lowry. Irish Minister for Sport Shane Ross said the Irish government is arranging a homecoming party for Lowry to return to Offaly, Ireland, where he grew up. He has cancelled a trip to Memphis to enjoy the government-funded celebration.

The folks in Offally have already begun the revelry, however. At Esker Hills, the golf club where Lowry got his start in golf, they were thrilled after seeing Lowry win the tournament.

They will surely give him a rousing welcome.
