A decadent pink Los Angeles mansion owned by Osama Bin Laden’s family has gone on the market for $38.1million (£28million) it is reported.
The Bel Air pad has been left derelict by the terrorist’s older-half brother Ibrahim since the twin tower attacks, according to the house listing.
Ibrahim is believed to have owned the Mediterranean villa-style mansion since 1983 but with it having been left vacant for 20 years its high valuation is based mainly on the land value.
The mansion is in exclusive lower Bel Air and is only a few houses away from the Hotel Bel-Air.
Built in a garish pink, the property dates back to 1931 and is 660 square metres which has been built on 8,100 square metres of land.
The seven-bedroom property was bought for $1,653,000 that would be around $5.5million in today’s money.
Ibrahim lived at the LA home with former wife Christine Hartunian Sinay, a Los Angeles socialite and enjoyed every luxury from gardeners, chauffeurs and servants, it is claimed in Steve Coll’s book “The Bin Ladens: An Arabian Family in the American Century”.
But following the September 11 attacks Ibrahim decided not to return to the US, it is believed due to his family links. He was on holiday abroad when the twin towers were struck in New York.
Few photos are shown of the inside of the mansion for the listing which states: “Ready for redoing, owner has not been here for over 20 years.”
From the outside the swimming pool and spa look like they have been well maintained. The mansion has been rented out by Ibrahim and it was being used to shoot adult films by 2010.
Ibrahim and Osama were among the 56 children of Saudi Arabian businessman Mohammed Bin Awad Bin Laden who had 22 wives.
