Christmas celebrations are now well under way on Gateshead quayside with the launch of an Alpine Lodge.
The new addition at the By The River Brew Co. container village has been taking shape over past weeks near the end of the Swing Bridge and is now ready to welcome customers who are looking for a festive atmosphere with difference.
The cosy wooden ski-style lodge is in an unique location overlooking the River Tyne and in the run-up to Christmas there also will be a changing line-up of street food outlets outside.
It adds to a wealth of attractions already at By The River Brew which contains a micro brewery, tap room and Träkol restaurant, which is launching its festive menu on December 1, and is sited next to the Backyard Bike Shop - which claims to serve the best coffee in Newcastle - and the HWKRMRKT which has its own line-up of street food vendors.
All those and the new Alpine Lodge, plus the addition of a heated marquee, will be co-hosting a big party being planned for New Year's Eve which will include music, DJs, a gin palace, cocktails and fireworks.
Ahead of that the Alpine Lodge will be open at weekends when various street food traders also will set up stall on a rotating basis.
Customers are invited along to the lodge from 5pm on Fridays and then from midday on Saturdays and Sundays. The pop-up is also available to hire for parties between Monday and Thursday.
