The New York Giants don’t often run trick plays, but might that change under first-year head coach Joe Judge?
While they hadn’t been seen throughout the duration of training camp due to media restrictions, the Giants let the cat out of the bag a bit on Friday night during the NBC broadcast of their Blue-White scrimmage from Thursday.
One of the first examples came on a fake punt, where high school quarterback Riley Dixon unleashed a first down pass to newly signed wide receiver Johnny Holton.

The second example of potential trick plays the Giants will run in 2020 was a bit more interesting and involved running back Saquon Barkley lining up in the… wildcat?

More than anything, that short clip shows why the Giants went out and signed veteran center Jon Halapio. The snap from Nick Gates was less than spectacular and could spell potential disaster in a live-game scenario.
As far as Barkley, keep this in mind: he regularly competed in quarterback drills while at Penn State, so he’s not new to handling shotgun snaps.
